Applications that collect data from RSS-compliant sites are called RSS readers
or "aggregators." jNEWS is such an application. It lets you gather, organize, update, and store information from any compliant source in a convenient, easy to use interface, save selected information in various formats for offline viewing and sharing, and much more.
jNEWS is also free of charge , fast , cross-platform , and unobtrusive. It's easy to install, easy to use, and easy to move.
RSS ("RDF Site Summary"," Rich Site Summary " ) is a document specification that gives users the power to collect and organize Web-based news and information in a more efficient manner. The RDF Site Summary is actually an extension to the RDF language. Quoting the official RSS v1.0 specification: ‘RDF Site Summary (RSS) is a lightweight multipurpose extensible metadata description and syndication format. RSS is an XML application, conforms to the W3C's RDF specification and is extensible via XML-namespace and/or RDF based modularization.'
Currently, jNEWS is in beta state, but it is quite stable and fully usable. You are very welcome to send in feature requests or bug reports (preferably through the sourceforge pages).
